Regional Planning administers the County’s tax abatement program. The Enterprise Zone Program offers tax abatements on real property to qualified manufacturing and wholesale distribution companies. The County Reinvestment Area offers tax abatement on real property for a variety of businesses. Housing

Regional Planning has several housing assistance programs including: housing rehabilitation; tenant-based rental assistance; and home repair assistance.

The housing rehabilitation program provides interest free, deferred loans that are 80% forgiven over a four year period to make major repairs to rundown, owner occupied houses.

The tenant-based rental assistance is provided in coordination with Shelby Metropolitan Housing Authority.

The repair program provides assistance for houses experiencing a major defect such as a faulty furnace, septic system or leaky roof. CHIP-Program; Pre-Application-SIDNEY SHELBY 2019
