Children’s Services Division
The Prosecutor also represents the Shelby County Department of Job and Family Services, Children Services Division, in cases of alleged child abuse, neglect and dependency. The prosecutor’s goal in such cases is to ensure the safety and well-being of Shelby County’s children through pursuing complaints, requesting protective supervision, temporary custody, legal custody, permanent custody, and other arrangements made in the best interest of the subject children.
Once a complaint is filed, the prosecutor represents the Agency at all stages of litigation from adjudication through disposition and termination of the case. Representation extends to appeals made to the Third District Court of Appeals, the Ohio Supreme Court, and the United States Supreme Court.
Madison S. Brinkman
Assistant Prosecutor
Madison S. Brinkman is an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney. The Prosecutor represents the Shelby County Department of Job and Family Services, Children Services Division, in cases of alleged child abuse, neglect, and dependency. Madison represents the Agency at all stages of litigation from adjudication through disposition and termination of the case. The goal in such cases is to ensure the safety and well-being of the children of Shelby County.
Madison was admitted to the practice of law in Ohio in 2019. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from The Ohio State University, graduating cum laude. Madison earned her law degree from the Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law. While in law school, Madison served as Citations Editor on the Ohio Northern University Law Review. Madison also worked as a Teaching Assistant for Criminal Law and a Research Assistant.
Madison is a member of the Ohio State Bar Administration and the Shelby County Bar Association. Madison also sits on the boards of the Alpha Community Center and Clear Creek Farms and is the Solicitor for the Village of Lockington.
