Children’s Services Division
The Prosecutor also represents the Shelby County Department of Job and Family Services, Children Services Division, in cases of alleged child abuse, neglect and dependency. The prosecutor’s goal in such cases is to ensure the safety and well-being of Shelby County’s children through pursuing complaints, requesting protective supervision, temporary custody, legal custody, permanent custody, and other arrangements made in the best interest of the subject children.
Once a complaint is filed, the prosecutor represents the Agency at all stages of litigation from adjudication through disposition and termination of the case. Representation extends to appeals made to the Third District Court of Appeals, the Ohio Supreme Court, and the United States Supreme Court.
Brandon W. Puckett
Brandon W. Puckett is an Associate Attorney with Sell, Hegemann & Zimmerman Co., L.P.A. where he engages in the general practice of law, representing individuals in a variety of legal matters. Areas of expertise include Civil Litigation, Landlord & Tenant Law, Family Law, Corporate Law, and Immigration.
Brandon was admitted to the practice of law in Ohio in 2012. He earned his law degree from The Ohio State University, where he was a managing editor of the Ohio State Journal of Criminal Law and earned a CALI Award for academic achievement while attending Oxford University. Brandon earned a B.A. from Miami University, with dual majors in Political Science and Spanish. Brandon is also licensed to practice in the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
Brandon is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Shelby County Bar Association. He enjoys coaching the Mock Trial Team at Sidney High School. Brandon is also fluent in Spanish, having studied in Argentina and worked as a teacher in Spain. He lives in Sidney with his wife and growing family.
